How To Maintain Your Oxygen Concentrator for Life Long

If you have oxygen machines, then it is important for you to maintain often to make it operational for life long. There is no arguing with the fact that there are a lot of things that require special attention while some are just basic maintenance practices.

In this post, we’ll talk about the things that you should keep in mind to maintain your oxygen concentrator for long. Let’s talk about them in detail.

1. Consider Using a Voltage Stabilizer: Having observed that a lot of people face the problem of voltage fluctuation. This problem can happen with any electrical equipment, not just oxygen concentrator. After a power cut, when the power comes back with high voltage, it can affect the compressor. If you want to avoid this problem, then make sure you use a good quality voltage stabilizer. This will help manage the voltage fluctuation and hence improves the life of the stationary oxygen concentrator.

2. Don’t Overlook its Placement: Oxygen concentrator can be kept anywhere, but on a safer side, it is wise to keep it at least a feet away from the walls, bed, sofa, etc. And the reason behind this is that the compressor inside the machine needs space to take in sufficient amount of room air which will be concentrated to pure Oxygen inside the machine.

3. Avoid Dusty Environment: When the filter gets filled with dust then the oxygen’s purity drops. When this happens, most of the machines start giving an alarm. That’s the reason, make sure that the filters need to be replaced periodically in such cases. Needless to say, it is impossible to eliminate dust from the air but you should avoid using your unit in a dusty environment.

4. Give Rest: Oxygen concentrators are made in such a way that they can be operated round-the-clock. But at times, you may face the problem of heating up. After continuous usage of around 9 hours, the concentrator should be given a rest of more than half an hour.

5. Consider Cleaning: In some oxygen concentrators, there is a cabinet/external filter outside that can be taken out easily. Make sure that you must clean the filter at least once in a week with soapy water. Before putting back in the machine, it should be dried completely.
